TARRADALE SHELL SORTING
17 March 2024
Starts: 10:00
Ends: 13:00

On Sunday mornings NOSAS members are continuing to sort through sieved  shells from the Tarradale shell midden to extract pieces of bone, antler, fishbone, small artefacts et cetera. Several interesting finds have been made already.

The shell sorting is done in the comfortable surroundings of the library at Tarradale House. Don’t worry if you have never done anything like this before it is relatively easy and we will show you what to look for. Existing participants say they find it a relaxing and congenial occupation. We also need people to help with sieving and carrying the trays of shells to the drying racks.

If you are able to come please let me know; my email is eandjgrant@gmail.com. If you need instructions on how to get to Tarradale House also please let me know.

We  meet from 10 AM to 1 PM with a mid-morning break for coffee, so bring your own refreshments

Cairns and Crannogs, a Castle, a Church and a Cross
17 March 2024
Starts: 10:30
Ends: 15:30

The first part of this day out will focus on prehistoric sites in and around Ledmore Junction before moving on to Inchnadamph to explore sites from the middle ages and early modern periods.

Meet on the A837 at NC 226 110 just below the Loch Borralan East Chambered Cairn

There will be a mix of short walks and drives between sites. None of the walking is beyond level 1, but it does include a short, steep and frequently sodden hillside, and rough boggy ground, so wear appropriate clothing.
